Neighbours battle snow to help new-born baby

11:14am Sunday 5th February 2012

A TEAM of thoughtful neighbours battled the snow to help woman who had just given birth.

Sarah Alder had already given birth to little baby Megan but needed a midwife for help with the after-care - who couldn't reach her.

An ambulance was called to the house in Ascot Grove, Basildon, at about 6.30am today but became stuck in the snow.

Neighbours Wayne Bond, of Vine Close, and Daniel Rice, of Warren Drive, dug the snow away to allow the ambulance and rapid response car to get out.

Baby Megan and her proud parents, Miss Alder and Stephen Watson, were then safely taken to Basildon Hospital’s maternity department.
